St. Catherine Laboure, Harbor Island Hilton San Diego Wedding

The Saint Catherine Laboure church is really a beautiful place for a San Diego wedding. AND, it can accommodate about 500 of your crossest friends, it’s huge! After the wedding ceremony and family photos we went over the the Japanese Friendship Bell on Shelter Island for the bridal party photos and also for the romantic photos. Once we finished with the Japanese Friendship bell we crossed the street and went over to the Pearl of the Pacific for some unique photos at a really beautiful sculpture garden. The wedding reception was at the Harbor Island Hilton San Diego where they enjoyed the company and dancing with all of their friends and family.

La Jolla Beach Elopement Wedding at Sunset

This couple wanted to involve their child into their La Jolla elopement wedding ceremony which Rev. Christopher Tuttle performed. Instead of doing the ceremony in the La Jolla wedding blow, or Cuvier Park, they decided to their elopement wedding ceremony on the cliffs right next to the wedding bowl. We were lucky to have such a beautiful sunset and of course I always stay to get those shots. I love doing wedding photography in La Jolla.

San Diego US Grant Wedding

Elegance, beauty, sophistication, and amazing food, obviously I’m talking about having a San Diego Wedding at the US Grant in the gaslamp district. The bride got ready in one of the US Grant day rooms and then we got her into her dress in the presidential suite. They used the crystal room at the US Grant for their wedding ceremony which looked amazing when candle lit and can accommodate a large wedding no problem. For the bridal party photos we used different parts of the lobby and then the couple and I went out to the street for some night time wedding photography. Without the use of a tripod night time wedding photos can be kind of tricky, but I managed to capture all the love and fun this couple was having. The US Grant looks amazing at night and to place such a beautiful couple in front of it just made the wedding photos come alive. The grand ballroom was the perfect place for their wedding reception which went on into the late hours of the night. By the time we went back into their bridal suite for the last set of wedding photos I had been working for about 11 hours, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to photograph the San Diego skyline from that angle with our couple in the foreground.

Mission San Diego de Alcala, Presidio Park, Mission Bay Hilton Wedding

Not everyone will have access to a day spa to get ready at, but this bride not only had one but also married the guy that manages many of them. The bridal party was able to pop in whenever they wanted to refresh the makeup or to hang out throughout the day. Needless to say her hair and makeup was always perfect. The wedding ceremony was at the San Diego Mission de Alcala in mission valley. After their wedding, we then went over to Presidio Park via limo bus. We did all of the bridal party photos at the museum portion of the park, and then went up to the arbor area for the romantic wedding formal portraits. Once back at the Mission Bay Hilton, we were able to take some more wedding photos by the bay as the sun was setting, then they made their grand entrance before all of their friends and family and partied for the rest of the night. As a San Diego wedding photographer I always love working at the Mission Bay Hilton.

San Diego Harbor Island Hilton and Japanese Friendship Bell Wedding

This San Diego wedding was done on Harbor Island at the Harbor Island Hilton. The wedding ceremony was done in the park across the road with all of downtown San Diego in the background, and luckily we had the shade of the large trees to keep things cool. We moved down the road to the Japanese Friendship bell for their romantic wedding photos. I always enjoy photographing wedding photos at the Japanese Friendship bell. It gives you a different feel to the photos and it’s an uncommon background for Southern California.

Coronado Beach Elopement Wedding

This was another fine beach wedding elopement by the Hotel Del Coronado. I really enjoy photographing these small Coronado beach weddings, they don’t have the craziness of the big full size ones, but still have all the love. This elopement wedding even got a fly by from a military helicopter which I included in the post. I think that it’s always a nice break from the full size San Diego weddings to do these smaller beach elopement weddings.

Bali Hai, Japanese Friendship Bell, Pearl of the Pacific Wedding

This San Diego wedding had us going the full length of Shelter Island. We did photos of the guys at the Bali Hai, and a really nice boat owner allowed us to use his yacht. For the girls, we did the brides maid photos at the Pearl of the Pacific area. The wedding ceremony was at the Bali Hai as well as the wedding reception. We were lucky to have a nice sunset and we did more wedding photography overlooking San Diego from the docks at the Bali Hai.

UCSD Faculty Club Wedding in La Jolla

The faculty club in La Jolla at UCSD is a very relaxed and upscale location for a wedding, and the biggest secret is that it isn’t even expensive when compared to other La Jolla locations. As a La Jolla and San Diego wedding photographer I always like to scope out where I’m going to do my work but in this case it was done for me when I was a student there at UCSD and I know every inch of that campus. When this couple asked me if I could do something different and possibly some nighttime photos, I knew right away to take them to the Price Center for their wedding photography. When the couple saw the finished photos they had to print them all out and hang them all over their home. I love being a La Jolla wedding photographer and working UCSD wedding locations.

Japanese Friendship Garden Balboa Park, Museum of Natural History Wedding

The Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park is a very special place for weddings. Where else will you be able to exchange your wedding vows while overlooking a koi pond. This couple had me do their wedding formal portraits at the Japanese Friendship Garden and around Balboa Park a couple of days prior to their wedding, this way we were able to save time on the actual wedding day and go directly form the wedding ceremony to the Museum of Natural History in Balboa Park. Once in the museum, they held the cocktail hour in the main foyer under the bones of dinosaurs, followed by the dinner and dancing on the roof. This is for sure an amazing place to hold a reception. The Museum of Natural History in Balboa Park has a full rooftop area that can fit a live band and a couple hundred of your closest friends while you eat, visit with friends, and dance under the stars. As a San Diego wedding photographer I always look forward to weddings at the Japanese Friendship Garden and the Museum of Natural History. The other thing about shooting wedding photos at night is that I get to be creative and make light effects in camera which the couple really liked once they saw the photos.

Martin Johnson House UCSD SIO Scripps, Wind and Sea Beach Wedding

This was a small wedding done at the Martin Johnson House at UCSD Scripps Institute of Oceanography (SIO). Instead of the main lawn area by the historic Martin Johnson House, this couple wanted to get married in the lawn area close to the library, by the Buddha statue. Rev Christopher Tuttle was the officiant for this wedding. Once we were done with their wedding, we then moved over to Wind and Sea beach by limo. We then captured their wedding photos on the beach as the sun was setting. Doing wedding photos in La Jolla is always best if you can catch the sunset.
